Meet Our Attorneys

Mr. Jonas is the Senior Attorney at the firm. He graduated from the University of the West Indies in 1994 with a Bachelor of Laws and completed his legal education at the Hugh Wooding Law School in 1996 where he attained the Legal Education Certificate.
On his return to Guyana in 1996 Mr. Jonas commenced practice as State Counsel at the Attorney General's Chambers, in the Ministry of Legal Affairs. From 1996 to 2002 he taught A-level Law at the Queen's College School, and from 1998 to 2000 was the Managing Attorney at the Bar Association's Legal Aid Clinic. In 1998 Mr. Jonas joined the firm as an Associate; where he became Partner in 2008.
During his tenure at the firm, Mr. Jonas also served as President of the Bar Association of Guyana for two consecutive terms from 2010 to 2012. From 2015 to 2018 he served as Chairman of the Guyana Competition and Fair Trading Commission. In 2015 Mr. Jonas succeeded Mr. Miles Fitzpatrick S.C. as the firm's Managing Partner. In 2020 he was appointed Senior Counsel.

Mr. Paul is an Associate at the firm. He graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Guyana and completed his legal education at the Hugh Wooding Law School in 2008. Mr. Paul undertook his in-service legal training at the firm in 2007 and subsequently joined in 2008.

Ms. Abrams is an Associate at the firm. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (distinction) degree from the University of Guyana in 2017 and completed her legal education at the Hugh Wooding Law School in 2019. Ms. Abrams was awarded the Cameron and Shepherd prize for the best performance in Civil Procedure and Practice I and II by a Guyanese student. Ms. Abrams joined the firm in 2019.

Mr. Jonas is an Associate at the firm. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Hons.) from the University of the West Indies in 2023. While at the University of the West Indies, he served as Publications Chairman on the Student Executive Body.
He completed his legal education at the Hugh Wooding Law School in 2025. Mr. Jonas also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the University of London.

Ms. Lawrence is the firm's Office Manager. She graduated from the University of Guyana in 2016 with a Bachelor of Laws (distinction) degree and joined the firm later that year. She has extensive experience in non-contentious probate, conveyancing, family and banking matters.
Ms. Lawrence also holds a Post Graduate Diploma from the Indira Gandhi National Open University in Environmental and Sustainable Development.
